FAQ's
"I loved the ability to download the maps right into the Garmins!"
Sharon M. - Lake Oswego, OR
I’m brand new to dual-sport riding and would
love to be at this year’s rally. Will I have too much difficulty if
I do not have a GPS?
A GPS is advisable. While we do provide detailed
maps with turn-by-turn directions, there are no street signs at every
corner on gravel roads. If you don't bring a GPS you can simplify things
by riding with others who do.
What’s the best setup for
me to have on my bike during the rally?
Cross terrain tires such as
a 80/20 or 90/10 composition are suggested since some of the riding
involves highway speeds of over 50 mph. 60/40 knobbies and
under
are not the best choice. All bikes must be street legal if operated
on pavement and/or Forest Service roads. The Skamania Fairgrounds,
accessible by pavement, will be our rally and camping location so
extensive off-road luggage systems can be stowed if desired as all rides will
be day rides starting and ending at the same location.
What sort of
off-pavement
riding will be available?
We will provide suggested
rides along maintained forest roads which will include stretches of
pavement. For the more agile and daring we will also provide
information onsite of single track trail systems you can ride while there.
Our group was thinking about meeting for our
annual gathering at the rally. Can you accommodate our desire to camp
together?
We can and we do this for a number of groups each
year. Please contact us via email with your specific request and be sure
to include the number of people you plan to have onsite.
What about food - are you
providing any meals?
We will be providing
breakfast and dinner on Saturday. The city of Stevenson has a large
supermarket with a full service deli and there are plenty of
restaurants in town, with more restaurants over the river in Cascade
Locks and east in Bingen. Vegetarian options are available.
Please email us with your request.
Are there any shower facilities for campers at the fairgrounds?
Yes, with plenty of hot water for all and they are well maintained.
The bathrooms are fully plumbed with flush toilets and have 120 volt outlets if you need them as well.
Our family would
like to attend. Some will not be riding motorcycles. Is that OK?
We welcome
families. The only restriction is that kids under 21 years old are not
allowed in the beer garden as per state law, otherwise everything is
open to them. Understand that each family member or guest over
12 must have a paid registration to attend even if they won't be
riding their own bike, or will be a passenger on another. Registration
costs have nothing to do with who is riding a motorcycle or how many
motorcycles are attending, rather they cover the costs of insurance,
meals, camping, guest speakers fees and lodging and otherwise. Kids
under 12 are free and must be supervised by their adult guardian at all
times.
If I'm camping at the fairgrounds, will I need to cook my own
food?
Only if you want to. Most attendees do not. There are a half dozen
restaurants and a full service grocery store with a deli within walking
distance of the fairgrounds. We often have food and beverage vendors
onsite as well and remember that we provide a delicious breakfast and
dinner on Saturday.
I have a sleep apnea condition. Are there electrical outlets near
the camping area?
Yes. There are more than a dozen outlets along the west side of the
tent camping area and electrical outlets throughout the RV area. |
