2018 Rally in the Gorge, 8/22-26

So many reasons to go

If you ride a dual sport, sport touring, adventure or sport bike model motorcycle, the Rally in the Gorge is a low testosterone event packed with good times for all.

Derek and I cut the July Sound RIDER! Show the other day, and we tossed around some of the virtues of the Rally in the Gorge. Almost as fast as we posted it, a listener came back and said we glassed over the best part - value.

Considering that feedback, I've crafted up some of the important reasons not to miss the rally this year. If you're one of those people who has been saying for years, you want to get to this event, there's never been a better year to come. Here's why.

Value

  • This year's basic fee is $80 for the 5 days if you choose to stay off-site, $125 if you plan to camp at the fairground and it's $160 if you plan on bringing an RV.
  • Considering this is a five-day rally and includes two meals in the price, take whichever number applies to you, divide it by five and you've got exceptional value!

Food

  • Food is an important part of any rally, especially if you're staying on-site. Along with the two meals we provide in the registration price, we created our own food concession based on how we feed our staff and we make it available to all registered riders.
  • Healthy, affordable, flavorful food that changes daily. That's what our staff wants and that's what you get whenever you choose to dine together with us at the rally site.
  • There are plenty of restaurants to explore in Hood River as well.
  • This year we'll offer lunch and dinner Wednesday, breakfast and dinner Thursday through Saturday along with a burger feed Thursday night and pancake breakfast Sunday, the latter two are included in your registration.

Facility & Amenities

  • The Hood River Fairgrounds are well maintained (new paint every year, etc…) and offers stunning views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams throughout the day.
  • Controlled and secure camping area completely fenced.
  • 110v electrical connections are available to all tent campers. Choose from sheltered, shaded and open space sites. Bathrooms feature flush toilets and plenty of running hot water in the shower rooms.
  • All RV sites provide 30-amp electrical outlets, water connections and a free dump station on your way out Sunday.
  • Propane fire circles are okay under normal circumstances.
  • Over-the-air TV available.
  • Free wi-fi onsite.
  • Multi-carrier cell tower on site.
  • Bike Wash on site

A Milder Summer

  • Milder summer weather and more moisture in the air means a cooler rally with less chance of area fires.

Top Guest Speakers & Training

  • We always feature informative guest speakers covering a wide range of moto topics.
  • The Maryhill Cornering clinic is unlike any other training available anywhere.
  • The Dirt Bike Safety Training DirtFirst off-road class is second to none in the Pacific Northwest.
  • The schedule is still evolving, and we'll be posting updates as we go along the next two months.

Stunning Scenery

  • Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams and more provide a stunning backdrop to every adventure you take.
  • Ride to the right spots and you'll soak in Mt. Jefferson, Mt. St, Helens and Mt. Rainier too.
  • The geologic history of this area is even more fascinating thanks to the work done by the Missoula Floods that occurred thousands of years ago.
  • With routes that run deep into the Cascades and explore the more arid regions to the east, the constant change of scenery makes this a world-class riding destination.

Great Roads & Rides

  • Whether your following an old wagon trail or riding one of the first paved roads in the western US, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is home to some of the earliest and finest road building in America.
  • Our rides are designed for riders who would rather travel at their own pace and not have to follow slower riders or eat another rider's dust.
  • All routes are available as GPS downloads when you arrive, and a one-sheet for each ride is produced with detailed ride notes about what to expect.
  • All registered riders get to take a spin on the Historic Maryhill Loops Road.
  • Oregon Raceway Park will once again offer parade laps on Thursday morning.

Fun & Games; Evening Video Mash Up

  • Evenings at The Rally in the Gorge are great time to get off the bike, relax and take in some of the fun entertainment we'll have on site.
  • DirtFirst is bringing back the popular Barrell Run competition Friday night
  • Enjoy four nights of video mash-up in the Community Hall.
  • Arrive each night early so you can claim a door prize if you're a winner.

Celebrate the end of summer

  • Some of the best riding days in the Pacific Northwest arrive at the end of August.
  • Celebrate the end of summer with us and enjoy 5 days, 4 nights, 3 volcanoes, Too Much Fun and one super rally event.
