Road Trip 2013: Oregon Back Roads 6/23-28Road Trip 2013

Breakfast at 7, hot pools at 8, last rider out at 9

June 24 - 28

If you've never joined us for our annual Road Trip tour, this is a year you won't want to miss. For 2013 we're combining sensational riding in the Pacific Northwest with some fun over-nighting as we wind our way through Western Oregon staying at select McMenamins properties along the way.

Imagine yourself rolling along each day through dense forests, over craggy volcanic passes, through the grassland countryside and past pristine lakes. Sounds like a trip through Europe - right? It's not - this is western Oregon, an area rich with stunning scenery and plenty of twisty roads.

Late afternoons and evenings are always a great time to relax and recount the day with other riders on the tour. This year we've teamed up with McMenemins as our preferred accommodations provider to offer you reasonably-priced lodging each night with a full array of grub and grog options at each location.

In addition, three of the properties we selected have full service hot pools on site. Never been in a hot pool? They're a lot like sitting in a hot spring, but you won't smell like sulfur (or chlorine) after your soak. Two of the hot pools open at 8, so if you want to grab a soak before hitting the road you can!

Our route this year covers some of the best roads Western Oregon has to offer. You'll ride a ferry, pass through covered bridges, twist your way through endless corners, cross over the Cascades several times and see some stunning scenery. Museum and sight-seeing options will be provided along the way each day. This year's route is not a repeat of our 2009 western Oregon tour.

The locations for each night will be mailed out to you once you register. At that point you will make all your own reservations directly with McMenamins to ensure you get the type of room you want and don't pay any middleman fees. Locations beyond the preferred McMenamins properties will also be provided as options in the event you'd rather stay elsewhere or rooms at McMenamins are sold out. The sooner you register, the sooner you can make your reservations and assure yourself a spot at each night's preferred lodging locale. We will not be providing suggested camping options this year.

The route will be provided to you in detail when you arrive at the start location in Centralia Sunday, June 23rd. Turn-by-turn directions, maps and a GPS upload are all included. A GPS is handy, but not required.

We will offer cartage each day so riders can load excess gear into our vehicle and enjoy the ride with less load on board.

Cost to ride the tour is $150 per rider and includes all the maps, cartage and any necessary support along the way. The rate is the same for passengers.  You will determine your expenses on lodging when you book your rooms.
