10 events to celebrate 10 years!
2009 marks the 10th anniversary of Sound RIDER! To celebrate the anniversary, we've come up with 10 events throughout the year
to keep riders busy. Some you may know from the past, others are totally new.
Mark your calendars and we'll see you out there!
Sound RIDER! clinics at the Inland Northwest Motorcycle Show in Spokane -
February 20-22
Sound RIDER! publisher/author Tom Mehren and best selling riding skills
author David Hough will present a series of seminars during the Inland
Northwest Motorcycle Show in Spokane. The entire schedule will be published in
the February 2009 issue of Sound RIDER!
Café to Café Grand Tour - April 1st to September 30th
Grand tours are a great way to explore the region with a purpose. This one
will involve 15 cafés to venture to. Those visiting all 15 cafés over
the six-month period will receive an award. There's no doubt that you'll be riding
roads you never knew existed or considered riding. Look for more details in the
March issue.
Spring Opener - Northwest Mystery Ride and Gathering- Saturday April 4th
This ride will have two starting points. One near the Cascades Range for
riders coming from the west and one near the Columbia River for riders
travelling from the East. Riders will converge throughout the day at a central
location for the mere pleasure of simply gathering with other riders and
celebrating what many consider the first weekend of riding season. The final
destination is a secret until you pick up your map in the morning. Look for more
details in the March issue.
Trollhaugen Dualsport - June 20-21
CANCELLED
Sound RIDER! teams up again with the Northwest Dualsport Enthusiasts to bring
you the 4th annual Trollhaugen Dualsport, a two day trip through the Cascade
range that's always a treat. Riders will get to spend the evening in a secret
mountain lodge location that only the trolls know. If you haven't done this yet
but want to, be sure to sign up early. Registration is limited and it always
sells out. Look for more details in the April issue.
RALLY IN THE GORGE - July 29 - August 2
Now in it's 7th year, the Rally in The Gorge encompasses four sub rallies and
provides an excellent location and roads to enjoy sportbiking, sport touring,
dualsporting and maxi scooting. It's a five day, three ring circus loaded with guest
speakers, movie nights, some great food, recommended rides, poker runs and other
adventure rides. The American Motorcyclist Association sanctions this one as
their Northwest Regional Rally. Held at the Skamania County Fairground, this
year will feature two full-size covered parking barns, onsite camping at no
extra charge and plenty to keep you busy during your stay, including a chance to
ride the Historic Maryhill Loops Road. Arrive when you like, leave when you
like. Registration opens in February.
3 Pass BLA$T - Saturday August 15th
It's our annual 200 mile time/speed/distance ride. Due to a massive snow pack
and road repair we had to cancel last year's 3 Pass BLA$T, but we're crossing our
fingers that all will be clear and we can run the route intended for last year.
It's just too great of a ride to miss. The event will begin in Sun River,
Oregon and end in Sisters, Oregon. While the event is only one day, plan to make
a two-to-three day trip out of it depending on how close you live to the start
and end points. Riders will receive all the route details when they arrive for
check in the day of the ride. More details in the June and July issues.
Northwest Motorcycle Display - December (dates TBA)
This will be our 9th annual Northwest Motorcycle Display and will be featured
at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in December. Got a cool bike
you'd like to show 40,000 attendees over the weekend? Owners whose bikes are
chosen get a free weekend pass to the show. To submit your bike

So there you have it. 10 events to celebrate 10 years. Join us at one, two,
three or all ten!
