Presenters

  • David Hough - Award winning author, David Hough, is now the best selling motorsports author of all time with his Proficient Motorcycling series. David will be working hard sunday teach three clinics.
  • Tom Mehren - As the publisher of Sound RIDER!, Tom Mehren spends more than 20,000 miles a year riding through the Northwest.  His presentation, "An Introduction to the Columbia River Gorge" will provide insight into the history of the area, where the good rides are, what to be watchful for and what to pack on the road. Be sure to catch his Packing Light/Packing Right presentation as well and learn the secrets of packing for your next ride.
  • Bret Tkacs - As the founder of Puget Sound Safety Bret Tkacs has created one of the most diverse rider training offerings in the Northwest.  The school teaches basic and experienced rider courses for both pavement and dirt as well as maintenance classes and performance riding courses.
  • Tim Bernard - Hard bags, soft bags, special mounts and accessories in general - Tim Bernard has seen it all.  As the owner of Happy Trails motorcycle outfitters in Boise, Idaho, Bernard will share his experiences and insight into determining the right accessories for gearing up your dualsport motorcycle.
  • Bill Altland - Like many people with a dream to ride the length of the Americas, Bill took it all the way last summer, fall and winter leaving his day job behind.  With the support of his family he took an adventure few ever get to.

Rally Highlights

David Hough is in the House - On Sunday David Hough will present several riding skills clinics designed to sharpen up your off-road riding and street survival skills. Don't miss em'. Hough is the author of the best selling Proficient Motorcycling series of books.

Dualsport Experienced Riders Course - This one-of-a-kind class provides both pavement and off-road MSF curriculum that will update and sharpen your dualsport riding skills.  If it's been a while since you've taken an advanced class then don't miss this one.  This class requires an additional fee.  To sign up call Puget Sound Safety at 253-531-4585.

GPS Clinic - If you have any interest in using or are already using a GPS, this clinic is for you. Your coach, Tim Bowman, will cover the full spectrum of GPS' including brands, features, mounting and power options, and effective use of GPS and the related planning software, as well as a number of cool tricks. In addition to use of the GPS in pavement situations, there will be particular attention given to use of the GPS in off pavement situations and how you can improve your use of your GPS. For those who have specific questions regarding their specific GPS or software, there will also be time available to spend with him and you and your GPS.

Packing Light/Packing Right - The ever popular clinic that reveals secrets about how to minimize your gear and reduce space and weight needed to travel on both day and overnight rides.

Adventure Prep Clinic - Bret Tkacs of Puget Sound Safety will discuss important topics for riders planning on leaving the pavement or riding through remote areas covering topics such as PLB’s and personal trackers, Personal safety considerations, setting you bike up for riding off road, preventing bike damage & loading and gear considerations. Don’t miss this Dualsport Northwest Exclusive.

When things go wrong - Gary Anderson of Puget Sound Safety will share tips & tricks on taking your bike into remote areas and getting it back in one piece. This clinic covers the mechanical aspects of off road Dualsport riding providing you with information on preventing bike damage, on-trail repairs, and maintenance considerations exclusive to dirt riding. This is the evolution of the maintenance clinic offered by Puget Sound Safety at DSNW in 2006 -2007 by Bret Tkacs.

Need Tires? - All Moto Tire will be taking advance tire orders on a pre-sale basis so they are ready for you when you arrive at the rally. You can order your tires and pay up front to have your tires mounted for free (off-bike) when you arrive. All Moto Tire will have a limited number of race stands for customers to remove and reinstall wheels. (A fee will be charged for All Moto wheel removal and installation). To guarantee delivery of your tires to the rally, go to the web site: www.allmototire.com or e-mail us at allmototire@comcast.net to request a quote. All Moto Tire will send an invoice which can be paid using PayPal or with a personal credit card. Paid orders must be received by August 7, 2008. Tires may be picked up Sunday August 24th only.

Gearing Up - Happy Trails owner Tim Bernard will share his insight into outfitting your motorcycle with custom luggage.  What do you need, what's overkill and what are the advantages of the various options.

Alaska to South America 2007 - Alaskan resident and KLR rider Bill Altland will share his stunning slideshow and commentary about his adventure ride from the Panhandle of the 49th state to the southern tip of South America.
