Rally FAQs Q. Who attends Maxi Scoot Northwest?
A. Maxi scooter enthusiasts from all around the US
and Canada attend this rally. Most are accustomed to riding
200 miles or more a day which is part of the deal at this rally.
There’s a contest each year to see who came from the furthest away.
Q. Where do you ride during the event?
A. Each rally participant gets a map set loaded
with recommended rides. The rides will take you to places like
Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, near Mt. Adams, along the Columbia River
and into the Mt. Hood and Gifford Pinchot National Forest areas.
Q. I’m coming from a few states away and won’t
know anyone. Is it easy to meet people when I get there?
A. Indeed. We also maintain a rider meet up
board so you can connect and meet others to go on rides together.
Q. Our scooter club has been looking for a
location to have our annual meet-up. Are there group rates
available and can you get us all camping in the same area?
A. No problem. We have group rates for parties of 6 or more
available during the registration process. We can accommodate your request to
get your group nested together in the same camping area too.
Q. I’m a new rider? Should I come?
A. If you have more than 1,000 miles of riding
under your seat then you shouldn’t be too intimidated with the skill
levels of others around you. If you have less you may want to
stick it out until next year.
Q. What should I wear?
A. Gear up! Most riders do and you
should as well if you already don't. The practical reason to is that
if you come off your bike for any reason, you stand a lot better
chance of getting up and riding away. That makes sense alone. Not
wearing proper gear can burden you, family members and rally
attendees if you come off your bike.
Q. Are there any shower facilities for campers at the fairgrounds?
A. Yes, with plenty of hot water for all and they are well maintained.
The bathrooms are fully plumber with flush toilets and have 120 volt outlets if you need them as well.
Q. If I'm camping at the fairgrounds, will I need to cook my
own food?
A. Only if you want to. Most attendees do not. There are a half
dozen restaurants and a full service grocery store with a deli
within walking distance of the fairgrounds. We often have food and
beverage vendors onsite as well and remember that we provide a
delicious breakfast and dinner on Saturday.
Q. Do I need a GPS?
A. No. Although, they are nice to have. If
you do bring a Garmin that has mini USB abilities, chances are we can
download the suggested routes into your GPS after you arrive.
If you don’t have one it’s likely someone else in your riding group
does. If you’re new to GPS we’ll be doing a GPS clinic during
the rally.
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. You can, but be advised you are responsible for
your dog at all times and the dog must be on a leash.
Q. Is it possible to ride all the suggested
rides in the five days?
A. No, so plan on coming back again next year too –
like many others do!
