Rally FAQs Q. Who attends Maxi Scoot Northwest?
A. Maxi scooter enthusiasts from all around the US
and Canada attend this rally. Most are accustomed to riding
200 miles or more a day which is part of the deal at this rally.
There’s a contest each year to see who came from the furthest away.
Q. Where do you ride during the event?
A. Each rally participant gets a book loaded
with recommended rides. The rides will take you to places like
Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, near Mt. Adams, along the Columbia River
and into the Mt. Hood and Gifford Pinchot National Forest areas.
Q. I’m coming from a few states away and won’t
know anyone. Is it easy to meet people when I get there?
A. Indeed. We also maintain a rider meet up
board so you can connect and meet others to go on rides together.
Q. Our scooter club has been looking for a
location to have our annual meet-up. Are there group rates
available and can you get us all camping in the same area?
A. No problem. We have group rates for
parties of 10 or more. Just give us a call at rally
headquarters at 206-329-7808 when you’re ready to book and we’ll
provide you the details. We can accommodate your request to
get your group nested together in the same camping area too.
Q. I’m a new rider? Should I come?
A. If you have more than 1,000 miles of riding
under your seat then you shouldn’t be too intimidated with the skill
levels of others around you. If you have less you may want to
stick it out until next year.
Q. I understand there’s a dualsport rally going
on at the same time/location. How does that work out?
A. Correct, the Dualsport Northwest rally
occurs simultaneously. During the day those riders are off on
gravel roads while you’re out on the paved roads. That is of
course unless you have a Honda Ruckus. Then you’ll just have
to decide what format to ride each day!
Q. I’m thinking about arriving a day early,
Saturday? Can I come in a camp a day early?
A. Because another event is underway at the
fairground you won’t be able to get on the grounds until Sunday
morning. However, you can come into Stevenson on Saturday and
camp on the west end of the Cascade Locks Park just across the river
on the Oregon side. They have bathroom and shower facilities there
as well.
Q. Do I need a GPS?
A. No. Although, they are nice to have. If
you do bring a Garmin that has mini USB abilities, chances are we can
download the suggested routes into your GPS after you arrive.
If you don’t have one it’s likely someone else in your riding group
does. If you’re new to GPS we’ll be doing a GPS clinic on
Sunday morning.
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. You can but be advised you are responsible for
your dog at all times and the dog must be on a leash.
Q. Is it possible to ride all the suggested
rides in the four days?
A. No, so plan on coming back again next year too –
at least!
